Three steps
- Onto the first pipeLoosen the clamps and slide one end of the connector over the first pipe. Snug that clamp slightly.
- Onto the other pipeFit the other end over the second pipe. On the TC-150, center the joint and push the pipes in until they touch.
- Tighten and testTighten both clamps to 60 in-lb on the DTC-150 and DTC-215. Hand tighten the TC-150. Then test for leaks.
Caution: don’t over-tighten the TC-150. Tubular pipe can crush.

Common questions
What’s the difference between DTC-150 and PDTC-150?
The P part number is the retail packaged version, sold in home centers and hardware stores. The same goes for PDTC-215 and PTC-150.
Which connector fits 2″ copper drain pipe?
The DTC-150. The DTC-215 is for 2″ plastic, cast iron or steel drain pipe, not copper.
Will it connect to old cast iron or steel drain pipe?
Yes. The DTC-150 and DTC-215 connect a 1¼″ or 1½″ tubular trap to plastic, cast iron or steel drain pipe.
What is tubular pipe?
The thin-wall brass or plastic pipe used for sink traps and drain tubes, in 1¼″ and 1½″ sizes. It’s smaller on the outside than standard 1½″ drain pipe.
Are they allowed by code?
The DTC-150, DTC-215 and TC-150 are listed by ICC-ES PMG (PMG-1117) to CSA B602, for use under the IPC, UPC, IRC and National Plumbing Code of Canada. Use above ground is subject to approval by your local code official, so check before you start.
Can I take it apart later?
Yes. Loosen the clamps to adjust or remove the connector for servicing, then tighten them again.
Can I use these on a water supply line?
No. Drain & Trap Connectors are for drain, waste and vent (DWV) use only.
Can I join brass tubular pipe to plastic?
Yes. The TC-150 connects brass to brass, plastic to plastic, or brass to plastic, in 1¼″ or 1½″ tubular sizes.
Can I cut the TC-150 shorter?
Yes. The TC-150 can be cut shorter for connections where space is limited.
How tight should the clamps be?
Tighten the DTC-150 and DTC-215 clamps to 60 in-lb. Hand tighten the TC-150 clamps. Tubular pipe is thin-walled, and over-tightening the TC-150 can crush it.
