Multi-Tite Pipe Gaskets
Multi-TitePipe Gaskets
Compression gaskets for joining service weight cast iron pipe, hub to spigot. Seat the gasket in the hub, lubricate, and push the spigot through. Nine sizes from 2″ to 15″.
A compression joint for hub and spigot.
A hub and spigot cast iron joint can be made with a compression gasket instead of lead and oakum. Multi-Tite sits in the service weight hub, and its sealing rings seal against the spigot as it’s pushed home.

Multiple sealing rings
Multiple rings aid in an easy installation.
Service weight
Designed for service weight cast iron, hub to spigot.
2″ to 15″
Nine sizes, SVG-2 through SVG-15, ordered by nominal pipe size.
ASTM C564
Meets the standard for rubber gaskets for cast iron soil pipe and fittings.
Cutaway of a hub and spigot joint with the top half of the hub cut away. Not to scale.
Gasket in the hub. Spigot through the rings.
The gasket seats inside the hub with only its flange showing at the hub lip. The spigot is then pushed or pulled through all of the sealing rings.
- CleanClean the hub and spigot of dirt, mud, sand, gravel or other debris. File sharp edges off cut pipe so they can’t catch the gasket’s seals.
- Seat the gasketFold the gasket into the hub until only the flange is exposed at the hub lip.
- LubricateLubricate the joint with a lubricant recommended for compression gaskets.
- Push it homeAlign the pipe straight and push or pull the spigot through all of the sealing rings until it bottoms out in the hub.
Steps summarize the general Cast Iron Soil Pipe Institute (CISPI) procedure for compression gasket joints. Follow local code.

Frequently asked questions.
What does a Multi-Tite gasket connect?
A service weight cast iron hub to a service weight cast iron spigot of the same nominal size, from 2″ to 15″.
Which size do I need?
Match the nominal size of the service weight pipe: SVG-4 for 4″, SVG-6 for 6″ and so on. See the size table.
Will it work on extra heavy cast iron?
No. Multi-Tite is sized for service weight pipe. Extra heavy cast iron has a different outside diameter and isn’t readily interchangeable with service weight.
Can I go from a cast iron hub to plastic pipe?
Multi-Tite is for cast iron hub to cast iron spigot. For a cast iron hub to plastic, use a Fernco Donut sized for the connection.
What standard does it meet?
ASTM C564, the standard specification for rubber gaskets for cast iron soil pipe and fittings.
