No-Hub Couplings
Shielded couplings built for no-hub cast iron pipe. A stainless steel shield and band spread clamping pressure across the gasket and pipe for a positive, hub-free joint.
Purpose-built for no-hub cast iron.
Fernco No-Hub Couplings join compatible no-hub cast iron pipe of matching or reducing diameters. The patented shield transfers clamping pressure across the gasket and pipe, creating a positive seal without a traditional hub-and-spigot joint.
Bi-Directional Shield
Patented corrugation applies sealing pressure in both parallel and transverse directions across the gasket and pipe.
Beaded Gasket
The elastomeric gasket uses positioned grooves and beads to add sealing pressure and holding power.
Interlocking Clamps
One-piece screw housings mechanically interlock with the band, removing the leak paths of staked or welded clamps.
Floating Eyelets
Floating eyelets let the clamp, band and shield move independently to help prevent shield crimping.
Stainless Steel Construction
Stainless steel shield, band and clamp components resist corrosion across plumbing applications.
Cast Iron Connection
Designed specifically to join compatible no-hub cast iron pipe to cast iron pipe.
One shielded system, every no-hub size.
From 1½″ through 15″, in Standard, Medium and Heavy Duty, plus reducing sizes for step-downs between diameters.
- Standard, Medium and Heavy Duty. Match the duty level to the job.
- Color-coded shields. Yellow marks Medium Duty and green marks Heavy Duty for quick identification.
- Straight and reducing sizes. Join equal diameters or step down between sizes.
- Stainless steel throughout. Shield, band and clamp components resist corrosion.

- 301 stainless steel shield and band
- Sizes 1½″ to 15″
Medium Duty
- Distinctive yellow shield
- 5/16″ hex-head screw
- 80 in.-lbs. installation torque
- 304 stainless steel shield and housing
- Sizes 1½″ to 10″
Heavy Duty
- Distinctive green shield
- 3/8″ hex-head screw
- 80 in.-lbs. installation torque
- Heavier-gauge, 304 stainless steel shield and housing
- Sizes 1½″ to 10″

Transitioning pipe? Reach for Proflex.
No-Hub Couplings are made for cast iron to cast iron. When you need to join different materials or diameters above ground, cast iron to plastic, steel, copper and more, Proflex is the shielded transition coupling built for it, across eleven transition series from 3/4″ to 8″.

What pipe do Fernco No-Hub Couplings connect?
They join compatible no-hub cast iron pipe to cast iron pipe, in matching diameters or the reducing sizes listed above. They are not intended for other pipe materials.
What is the difference between a No-Hub Coupling and a Proflex Coupling?
Both are shielded couplings, but they are built for different jobs. No-Hub Couplings are purpose-built for no-hub cast iron systems and match the codes that govern them (CISPI 310, ASTM C1277 and C1540), with Standard, Medium and Heavy Duty options. Proflex is a shielded transition coupling for above-ground DWV work: it joins different pipe materials and diameters (cast iron, plastic, steel, copper and more) and is built to ASTM C1460. Proflex can join cast iron to cast iron, so the two overlap there, but for a straight no-hub cast iron connection the No-Hub Coupling is the code-matched choice. Reach for Proflex when you need to transition between materials or pipe sizes.
What is the difference between Standard, Medium and Heavy Duty?
Duty level sets the clamp count, installation torque, screw size and stainless steel gauge. Standard Duty (NH) uses a 5/16″ screw at 60 in.-lbs. Medium Duty (MD, yellow) adds clamps and steps up to 80 in.-lbs. Heavy Duty (HD, green) uses a 3/8″ screw and a heavier gauge at 80 in.-lbs.
What installation torque should I use?
Use a calibrated torque wrench. Standard Duty is 60 in.-lbs. on most sizes and 120 in.-lbs. on 12″ and 15″. Medium and Heavy Duty are 80 in.-lbs. The torque for each part is listed in the tables above.
Are No-Hub Couplings shielded?
Yes. A stainless steel shield and band sit over the gasket and distribute clamping pressure across the joint, which is what makes them suitable for no-hub cast iron systems.
