One part, not a stack of fittings

Small line, big fitting. Getting a small copper or CPVC line into a 1½″ fitting can take a reducing bushing, an adapter and a transition. The Utility Connector does it in one piece.

Where it goes

Good fits
  • Tying a small condensate line into a 1½″ condensate line
  • Clear-water lines running to a sump, drywell or outdoors
  • Drain lines after an air gap fitting
  • Non-plumbing equipment drains, where local rules allow
Check your code first

Water heater relief valve and drain pan lines, softener and RO drains, and A/C or furnace condensate lines can’t be sealed straight into a plumbing drain. Most codes call for an air gap. Check with your local inspector.

Three steps

  1. Press it inPress the stepped end of the connector into the 1½″ fitting socket.
  2. Add the linePush the small copper or CPVC line through the center of the connector.
  3. TestRun water through the line and check for leaks.

Common questions

Does it go into pipe or a fitting?

A fitting. The stepped end presses into the socket of a 1½″ ABS or PVC fitting, the same opening a 1½″ pipe would glue into.

Can I use it on a water heater relief line?

No. Relief valve and drain pan lines need an air gap and can’t be sealed into a drain. The same goes for water softener and RO drains.

Can I run A/C condensate into a drain with it?

Not directly under most codes. Use it to tie into a condensate line, or after an air gap.

Do I need glue?

No. It’s a press fit. No glue, primer or tools.

Can it take water pressure?

Only low pressure, up to 4.3 PSI. It’s for drain lines. Don’t use it on a water supply line.
