Strong-Seal · Pipe and culvert liningStorm Seal® Spray-Applied Lining
A fiber-reinforced liner for corrugated metal, concrete and masonry culverts, storm drains and catch basins. It goes on from the inside, with no digging.
A new culvert inside the old one
No trench, no excavation. Storm Seal® is sprayed by hand or spun cast inside the culvert. It stops inflow and infiltration, restores structural integrity and leaves a smooth surface for water to flow over.
Spray it by hand, or spin cast it with Strong-Seal® spincasting equipment.
Built up in passes to at least 1″ total thickness.
STORM-SEAL 60 lb bag · 40 per palletOver 1,200 psi flexural and 800 psi tensile at 28 days.
Passes ASTM C666 with no damage.
Six steps to a lined culvert
- DivertDam, divert or bypass the flow.
- CleanJet with high pressure water. Remove loose debris and loose or protruding brick, mortar, concrete or metal.
- Stop leaksStop active leaks with Strong-Plug®. Fill large voids and joints with a rapid-setting patch.
- Rebuild the invertWhere the invert is scoured or washed out, rebuild it with Grout 12,000 first. Wait at least 1 hour before lining.
- LineHand spray up to 1″ per pass from the crown, or spin cast no more than ½″ per pass. 1″ minimum total. Wait 2 hours between overhead passes.
- CureKeep it damp for 72 hours if humidity is under 70%, or use an ASTM C309 curing compound. Shade the structure in hot, dry weather.
Back in service: storm runoff after 4 to 6 hours. Stream flow after 8 to 10 hours.
Before you line
A culvert liner needs a sound, even surface. Stop active leaks, then rebuild a scoured invert so Storm Seal® goes on at an even thickness all the way around.
First, stop the leaksStrong-Plug®Sets in under a minute and hardens on contact with water. Once it sets, you can line right over it.See Strong-Plug ›
Then rebuild the invertGrout 12,000Self-consolidating grout that rebuilds a scoured culvert invert to its original shape before lining.See Grout 12,000 ›

Common questions
What size culverts?
It’s formulated for stormwater applications and culverts 24″ in diameter or larger.
Hand spray or spin cast?
Either. Hand spray up to 1″ per pass, starting at the crown. To spin cast, center the spincaster and pull it back at a rate that places no more than ½″ per pass. Either way, the total must be at least 1″.
What if the invert is washed out?
Rebuild it with Grout 12,000 first, so the liner goes on evenly. Wait at least 1 hour before applying Storm Seal®.
When can flow go back in?
Storm runoff after 4 to 6 hours. Stream flow after 8 to 10 hours.
What weather can I apply it in?
Don’t apply below 40°F, on frozen surfaces, or if the surface could freeze within 24 hours. Keep the material under 90°F and the mix water under 80°F. Chill with ice if you need to.
How is it tested on the job?
Cast four 2″ cube samples each day, or for every pallet used, whichever comes first. Package, label and return them to the manufacturer for compressive strength testing per ASTM C109, following the owner’s or manufacturer’s directions.
